Group of bicyclists discover seal along Dead Horse Bay

A group of bicyclists received a big surprise Saturday afternoon when they discovered a seal along the beach.
The cyclists of the Five Borough Bicycle Club say they were biking along Dead Horse Bay when the spotted the adorable seal. They say its beauty took their breath away.
"We always say every ride is a new adventure. You never know what you're going to find," said one of the bicyclists. "And today was certainly that day."
They tell News 12 Brooklyn that the seal looked like it was washed up on the sand and in distress, so they stopped to call police.
Police arrived shortly after, and informed the group that this is normal behavior for a seal at this time of year – many temporarily escaping from the cold water on land. Police tell News 12 that they left the seal where it was, allowing it to go back into the water on its own time.
The group that found the seal says that the best way to get to the location is by bike, along a dirt road.
