Several families were forced from their home in Fort Greene after the city declared it unsafe.
The Department of Buildings says about a dozen people living at 68 and 70 Clermont Ave. were evacuated. Tenants knew something had been wrong with the place they call home.
Tenant Terrance Lawrence says he felt the building swaying and felt so unsafe that he decided to sleep in his car instead of in his apartment.
Lawrence called 311 Tuesday as he says the building made popping noises.
The Department of Buildings had inspectors on the site, telling News 12 that the investigation found the exterior facade shifted. Cracks formed inside the building, including around the staircase leading to the upper floors.
The Red Cross was on the scene helping three families try to relocate. It is not clear how long they will be out of their homes.
