The lawyers for the family of a man who committed suicide after being released from jail says a settlement had been reached between them and the city for $3.3 million.
News 12 previously reported that Kalief Browder, 22, killed himself in 2015 after he was released from Rikers Island.
Browder was arrested in 2010 for stealing a backpack and spent three years in jail only to have his charges dropped.
The settlement still needs to be signed by a judge.
