Police: 1 suspect in custody after police chase with stolen car ends in Wakefield

Police say a man has been taken into custody after he struck and dragged a police officer for a block in a stolen BMW.
According to police, the suspect was taken into custody after seeking treatment at a hospital for a gunshot wound to the arm.
Police say the incident all started in Mount Vernon it ended in the Bronx on Monticello Avenue.

The Mount Vernon Police Department tells News 12 that the suspect was seen driving a stolen car that was being investigated in an earlier accident involved in striking a Westchester police vehicle.
When officers tried to stop that car near the Mount Vernon and Bronx border they say the driver hit one of their cops with the car and dragged him around one block.
A different Mount Vernon officer fired his gun at the suspect, but did not hit anyone.
Police in the Bronx taped off the streets as the NYPD and Mount Vernon officials searched for the suspect who ran away and is now in custody.
Both officers were taken to the hospital and are expected to be OK.
