Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza and Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Monday that for the 2019-2020 school year, the littlest New Yorkers will be able to learn in four new languages.
A total of 47 dual language programs are being added across the city.

There will be six new dual language programs in the Bronx - all adding Spanish. The schools are P.S. 30 Wilton, The New American Academy at Roberto Clemente State Park, Bedford Park Elementary School, Ready Set Learn, 3467 Ready Set Learn and Monsignor Boyle Head Start.
In Brooklyn, Japanese will be added to P.S. 147 at Isaac Remsen, French at P.S. Dr. Ronald McNair, Haitian Creole at Charles R. Drew ELC5 and Hebrew at All My Children Day Care 10.
The classes are made up of 50 percent of kids whose home language is the target language of the program, and then 50 percent English proficient students. The class will be held in both languages. Once those kids graduate from pre-K, they can continue the program through kindergarten and beyond.
