Officials say a truck carrying Aviation Gin lost control and slammed into a house in Greenpoint Tuesday morning.
They say the incident happened around 3 a.m. at 165 Russell St. between Nassau and Norman avenues.
Police officers say the driver claims he was trying to avoid a cat that ran into the road.
Lorraine Kenny, the owner of the building, says herself and her tenants were sleeping when they heard and felt the impact. No injuries were reported.
First responders carefully backed the truck away from the building three hours after the crash.
The truck also hit two parked cars that were on the street.
A vacate order was placed on the front door of the building. The Department of Buildings says the American Red Cross will offer help to the tenants affected as the owner works to make necessary repairs.
Police say there was no evidence that the driver was under the influence. He has not been charged, and it is unknown if he will be.
