2 Bronx Catholic schools among 7 that are closing

Seven Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of New York, including two in the Bronx, are closing their doors.
The archdiocese says the decision came down to a lack of funding. The Bronx schools set to close are St. Nicholas of Tolentine Elementary School and St. Joseph Elementary School.
"We understand these are challenging times for many families, and we will work with all students who are seeking to continue their Catholic education to find a seat at another excellent school in the archdiocese," it released in a statement.
Timothy Cardinal Dolan says parents can apply for financial aid and scholarships for the upcoming school year. He says if enrollment increased by 10 percent at schools that closed, they would not need to shut down.
Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of New York serve more than 62,000 students from pre-K-12.
