Bronx boy celebrating birthday rescued from elevator

A young boy was rescued by emergency crews after getting stuck in an elevator in Castle Hill Wednesday.
It happened around 7:30 p.m., leading to a large response at 2045 Story Ave.
When those in the apartment building realized what was happening, they rushed to the boy's aid. Somebody even held his hand until help arrived.
FDNY crews worked for an undetermined amount of time to eventually get him to safety.
The building on Story Avenue has two open Department of Buildings violations from June 2018.
A woman who appeared to be the boy's mother bought him a cake after to cheer him up because it was his birthday. He posed with emergency workers for photos after the rescue.
