Youth Rally Against Hate in Sheepshead Bay looks to end hate crimes
The Sheepshead Bay community is rallying together to fight racism and anti-Semitism.
The Youth Rally Against Hate, led by students at Madison High School, aimed to educate others about the impact of hate crimes in the community.
Students of all ages and backgrounds expressed their thoughts on bias crimes that have happened in the borough.
Councilman Chaim Deutsch along with other local and city officials came in support of the cause.
Organizers say their message is to make young people aware that they need to stand up and end hate.
Local leaders say they are working on a new bill to implement a task force that will be dedicated to preventing and tackling hate crimes.
Organizers also spoke about creating programs in schools that will help students and staff to better identify and respond to hate incidents.
