Nonprofit offers children free violin lessons
Children in East New York have the opportunity to receive free violin lessons on Saturdays.
The lessons are part of the nonprofit Good Shepherd's Services programing at the P.J. Avitto Community Center on Prince Joshua Avitto Way.
It’s the newest activity for children at the center, and organizers say children don't need to bring their own instrument.
Justin Joseph, a 9-year-old boy in the program, tells News 12 he has learned how to play “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” on the violin, and wants to learn how to play the piano.
“When you work hard and put in your effort, you can do things that you don't know how to do,” said Joseph.
The center offers many music, sports, and educational programs to engage youth after school and on the weekends.
