EAST NEW YORK -

The search is on for the man police say tried to rape a woman in East New York.

It happened Monday around 6:40 a.m.

Police say he followed a 53-year-old woman into her apartment near Doscher Street and Liberty Avenue.

As soon as she opened the door, police say he pushed her inside and onto a couch demanding money. Police say she gave him $20 which he took, but then he began trying to pull her clothes off and demanding sexual acts. When she refused, investigators say he took off.

He's described as about 30 years old and being around 6 feet tall. Police say he had on a green flight jacket, dark hooded shirt and a black skullcap.

The woman was not hurt.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
