Student advocates push for congestion pricing in NYC
Posted: Updated:MIDWOOD -
Some Brooklyn College students are calling on state lawmakers to pass congestion pricing in the state budget.
They say the money from congestion pricing would fix the city’s mass transit, which they have blamed for being late to school or their after-school jobs.
The plan would implement a toll on cars and trucks traveling South of 61st Street in Manhattan during peak hours. Supporters, including the MTA, say it could raise billions of dollars for mass transit.
The state budget has to be passed by April 1 unless the deadline is extended.
