Police: Driver slammed into parked cars in Morris Park, then fled
A chaotic scene unfolded in Morris Park when a truck driver crashed into a row of parked cars before fleeing on foot, and News 12 has obtained exclusive video of the incident.
It happened around midnight. The surveillance video shows the truck barreling into parked cars along Hone Avenue.
The driver then got out of his truck and calmly walked away before turning a corner and breaking into a run.
Police say a total of 14 vehicles were damaged before the truck came to a stop. It left behind a trail of destruction, with glass and vehicle debris littered about and trees uprooted from the ground.
Dumbfounded car owners are now left to deal with the damages.
"It was a Honda CRV, the whole thing was demolished," says car owner Maria Healy. "It was the first car I ever purchased myself, so it was very valuable to me and it's kind of heartbreaking that it's gone."
Police say the driver of a PSI Recycling truck got into an argument with a garbage hauler who appeared to be driving for Falso Carting. Police say the PSI driver head-butted the garbage man before getting back into his vehicle and driving off, hitting parked cars in the process.
Police are now looking for the driver who crashed into all of the vehicles.
News 12 contacted both companies for comment but has not yet received responses.
Officials say no injuries were reported.
