Police: 1 of 2 men wanted for shooting death of Bushwick teen charged with murder
Police say one of two men wanted for the shooting death of a Bushwick teen back in January has been charged with murder.
The 21-year-old Dazon McMillan, of Bushwick, also faces charges of attempted robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.
He was taken into custody Wednesday evening for the death of 19-year-old Devonte Howai Cameron.
The shooting occurred at the corner of Weirfield Street and Bushwick Avenue on Jan. 26, and was caught on surveillance camera.
Authorities say that two men approached Cameron - one stood as a lookout and the other pulled a gun and shot the victim.
They say Cameron was shot in the chest. He was taken to the hospital but did not survive.
Dawn Cameron, the mother of Devonte Cameron, says she doesn't understand why someone would kill her son.
"Knowing that he just had so much more in life to accomplish and to prove to himself and us, and the fact it was taken away … it was too soon," she says.
The other man wanted in connection with the teen's death is still on the loose.
