A mom and her daughter had a scary moment Monday when a worker doing construction in the apartment above came crashing through the ceiling.

Flossie Bonaparte says she's been living at 1155 Dean St. with her daughter for more than 20 years. She says the hole in her ceiling is just the latest of a string of problems not addressed by the landlord, Renaissance Realty Group.

"I couldn't believe this happened," says Bonaparte. "And now I'm afraid to stand in any room if they continue with this demolition overhead with the same incident happening again."

Some of the repair requests made by Bonaparte go back to 2013 and include cracks in the ceiling, a peeling bathtub and a broken faucet. Bonaparte says she's gone to court several times, but barely anything has been done.

The Bonapartes say one of the reasons they believe their requests are being ignored is because the current landlord wants to push them out so the apartment can be rented out for more money.

A representative from Renaissance Realty Group says there are no notes of work needing to be done.
