A massive, six-alarm broke out at a Sunset Park building Wednesday afternoon, injuring 12 people.

Officials say they responded to the 702 44th St. building just before 5 p.m. More than 200 firefighters and FDNY personnel responded to the scene.

News 12 is told the fire started on the top floor of the six-story structure. The entire top floor was destroyed, and the flames then moved to a neighboring wing of the building.

FDNY officials say four civilians and 19 firefighters suffered injuries, all of which were not considered life-threatening.

High wind gusts and dry air made fighting the fire even tougher for those tasked with controlling the flames.

Several blocks were closed off during the response, causing commuting issues in an area that is right near a school and several churches.

Viewers say the fire was visible from as far as the Verrazzano Bridge.

The building is considered to be uninhabitable. The Red Cross says it was finding about 90 people a place to stay in the wake of the fire.
