Bronx judge orders Anthony Weiner to register as level 1 sex offender

Anthony Weiner, the disgraced former Democratic congressman who pleaded guilty to sexting with a minor, must now register as sex offender.
After examining more than 50 pieces of documents from the prosecution, a Bronx judge found there was enough substantial evidence to classify disgraced former Rep. Weiner as a level1 sex offender, which means he is of the lowest risk to the public. His name is not required to be listed in the New York State Sex Offender Online Registry.
Weiner, who was scheduled to appear before a judge, waived his right to the hearing. In May of 2017, Weiner pleaded guilty to sexting with a minor and was sentenced to 21 months in a federal prison.
Weiner served 15 months and was released in February of this year. He has been living in a transitional home for men on Creston Avenue to serve out the remainder of his sentence. He will be released in May.
Weiner, who was a rising star in the Democratic party, fell from grace after several incidents involving him sending inappropriate message and photos of himself to underage girls.
