Shoe drive aims to help students step to prom in style
A shoe drive is underway to help hundreds of students step to their prom in style.
Organizers with the Slim Heart Campaign have been collecting shoes across the city for the past month, and it marks the eighth year of the drive.
All of the shoes will be sorted and cleaned before they are donated to local prom drives to help junior high and high school students get ready for prom.
Organizers are partnering with businesses, groups and nonprofits to provide these resources to students in need. They say prom is a milestone event in students' lives, and it's important to make sure each of them feel like a million bucks.
During the upcoming prom drives, organizers will act as style consultants to help match the perfect shoe to a student's dress or suit.
