Sunday marked International Good Deeds Day, and some volunteers in Bay Ridge were pitching in to help others.
People gathered for a family volunteer event at the Bay Ridge Jewish Center to pack bags full of food that will help feed nearly two dozen families in the community.
The effort was organized with the help of Grandma's Love, a local organization that is committed to ending child hunger.
Volunteers say they hope the event will help teach kids the importance of helping others.
International Good Deeds Day marks a global effort to encourage people to do something selfless that could benefit someone else.
