Police say a man stabbed his wife and daughter before setting part of a house on fire in Sunset Park.
The incident happened before 4 p.m. at 373 42nd St.
Authorities say the 64-year-old man and the 63-year-old woman were having a verbal altercation that resulted in him getting a knife from the kitchen. They say the wife tried to defend herself and take the knife. She was slashed in the finger.
The man then stabbed his 45-year-old daughter twice in both shoulders, according to police.
They say he stabbed himself in the abdomen and set a room in the apartment on fire.
Authorities arrived at the home and arrested the father. The women were both taken to Maimonides Medical Center. The man was taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire.
