Dozens of girls treated to free prom dresses, shoes and jewelry
A Parkside Preparatory Academy alum is holding a free prom dress giveaway for Brooklyn students.
Jessica Deleon, founder of Make It Gorjess, says she wanted to give back to families in need because she knows how many of them have trouble paying for prom and graduation.
She says she had the idea after attending a prom dress giveaway a few years ago.
"I said 'one day when I'm able to, I'm going to have a prom dress giveaway for girls in my community, underprivileged girls so that I can be able to help them out and be a blessing to them,’" Deleon says.
More than 100 girls from the borough were able to pick out a prom dress, shoes and jewelry. They were also treated to free manicures and makeup.
Deleon says she wants the event to be held annually for years to come.
