A teen was critically injured in a stabbing in Midwood Monday afternoon, police say.

It happened at Avenue M and East 17th Street shortly after 4 p.m.

Police say they found a 17-year-old boy bleeding after he was assaulted by two or three people, possibly armed with a knife.

Witnesses who did not want to appear on camera tell News 12 that they heard a commotion and saw one of the three people plunge a knife into the victim. They say the teen ran into a pizza shop pleading for help.

Police say the teen was taken to Maimonides Medical Center in critical condition.

The victim has not been identified at this time.
