CANARSIE -

Police say a 6-year-old has died after a car crash in Canarsie.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Seaview Avenue and 80th Street Wednesday.

Police say a woman driving lost control and crashed into parked vehicles.

The child is the son of the driver. He was in the back seat back the SUV at the time of the crash.

He was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The boy's mother is expected to be OK.

Late Wednesday night, crews towed the crushed cars away, while the Department of Sanitation removed piles of debris. Con Edison also worked to stabilize a utility pole.

Neighbors say the intersection is a hot bed for speeding. They say they have tried to get a stop light installed there for more than a year.
