WILLIAMSBURG -

A woman was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street Wednesday afternoon.

It happened just before 3 p.m. on Middleton Street and Lee Avenue. A car was also side-swiped while waiting at the light.

Officials say the driver of the 2007 Chrysler fled the scene.

There are reports that the driver then drove on the sidewalk for a least a block, but police have not confirmed that.

Police said the car was recovered at another location with no one inside.

The 25-year-old woman was taken to the hospital for a knee injury. She is expected to be OK.
