No suspects, no arrests 1 year after neighbors are found fatally shot in Bushwick

BUSHWICK -

It's been one year since two next-door neighbors who lived in the Bushwick Houses were found shot to death in their apartments.

Despite the time gone by, there have not yet been any arrests in the case, and no suspects have been identified.

Police say 62-year-old Ana Delvalle and 54-year-old Basil Gray both lived on the fifth floor of 140 Moore St. in separate apartments. To this day, family, friends and police cannot understand why anyone would want to kill either of them.

On May 11, 2018, just days before Mother's Day, Devalle was found with her hands bound and a gunshot wound to the head. Her daughter told News 12 it's something that haunts her every day.

Investigators believe they were both killed on a Friday night, but Gray's body wasn't discovered until Sunday night when family went to check on him. The lead investigators say they received no 911 calls prior to family members discovering the two.

"Very serious crime, it's a brutal murder, it's two good people who did nothing to bring this to their doorstep," says Detective Stephen Minucci, of the 90th Precinct. "Their families are seeking closure and justice for this."

Family and friends held a vigil in their memory Friday night. They also hope the vigil will help reinvigorate finding new information in the case.

Police are offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible.

"We believe there are people who know what happened, and we think through whether people are scared or just think it's not their problem because it didn't happen to them. We're saying this is your community … this is a chance for you to help," says Det. Minucci.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call police.
