A man is recovering from a head injury following a vicious robbery in East New York.
The NYPD believes five people were involved in the slashing of a 38-year-old while trying to steal his wallet.
They say it happened Friday afternoon on the intersection of Chestnut Street and Glenmore Avenue.
Officials say the men came up from behind and pushed the victim to the ground. Investigators say the attackers first punched and kicked the man, then slashed him with an unknown weapon.
The suspects got away with the man's wallet which contained about $60.
The victim was taken to the hospital with a severe cut on his head.
Authorities say they believe the suspects are in their late teens or early 20s.
It is unclear what sparked the attack.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
