Police: Bridgeport man pistol whips, throws clerk across room in Milford motel attack

A Bridgeport man pistol whipped a motel clerk before throwing him across a room in Milford during an armed robbery, while his accomplice waited in the car, according to police.
Elben Quinones, 51 and Melanie Lugo, 34, of Bridgeport, were arrested and are facing  assault on an elderly person, robbery and larceny charges.
The incident occurred at the Mayflower Motel in Milford on Monday around 9:45 p.m. Police say Quinones baited the clerk out from behind the office by claiming the lobby microwave was not working. Once the clerk was near the microwave, police say Quinones grabbed the man and pointed a gun at him before striking him in the face and throwing him across the room.
Police say the clerk lost consciousness during the attack. He was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Quinones took the cash register and other items from the office before running across the street to a car where Lugo was waiting.
Police say the couple was arrested at a Bridgeport motel just one day later.
