The Sandy Hook lighthouse has welcomed people into New York Harbor for more than 250 years; and on Tuesday, the first-ever naturalization ceremony took place on the site.
During Tuesday's ceremony, 53 people from around the world became U.S. citizens.
One such new citizen is Paula Bradley, who came to the United States from Scotland three decades ago.
"I'm very proud and happy that I have managed to accomplish this great feat," she says.
