Detectives ask for public’s help to solve 2017 cold case

FLATBUSH -

Detectives are asking for the public's help to solve a 2017 murder case gone cold.

It's been nearly two years since Justin Hackley was shot to death in Flatbush, and no arrests have been made.

News 12 has been told that investigators have pursued several leads over the past couple of years - some even bringing them to other states - but all of them have turned up empty.

They say they now have a clear picture about who they are looking for, but no idea where.

Brothers Dean and Rasheed Boland have evaded authorities for nearly two years now. They are the men accused of shooting and killing Hackley in July 2017.

The detective initially assigned to the case has since been transferred to another unit, but says having the Boland brothers roam free still nags at him - especially because he insists they are being protected.

Police say odds are people have seen the brothers, and those people may be helping them evade police.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
