EAST NEW YORK -

In recognition of the 75th anniversary of D-Day, seven Brooklyn veterans were honored by Rep. Hakeem Jeffries at the Vandalia Senior Center for their heroism and service in World War II.

The veterans celebrated with a dinner and a memorial service. They then were presented with congressional certificates of honor.

They will also have their own flags flown over the U.S. Capitol building.

The group of seven told News 12 that they were happy to be honored and recognized for their service.
