Officials say two people were killed in a serious, single-car accident early Saturday morning, in which speed may have been a factor.
The accident happened in front of Kings Plaza at the intersection of Flatbush Avenue and Avenue V a little after midnight.
Police say they arrived on scene to find a Nissan Altima engulfed in flames.
They say they believe the Nissan was speeding down Flatbush Avenue and sideswiped another vehicle before running through a red light and crashing into a traffic pole, killing both male passengers.
News 12 is told that two people were in the car that was sideswiped, but they did not suffer any injuries.
It has not yet been determined how fast beyond the 35 mph speed limit the vehicle was actually traveling.
Witnesses tell News 12 that bystanders were able to extract the driver from the vehicle but not the second individual.
Police say both victims were in their 20s. Their identities have not yet been released.
