NYPD: 10-year-old girl, her mother killed by longtime boyfriend

A 10-year-old girl and her 34-year-old mother were killed Saturday afternoon in their Tremont home by the mother's longtime boyfriend, according to police.

A 10-year-old girl and her 34-year-old mother were killed Saturday afternoon in their Tremont home by the mother's longtime boyfriend, according to police.
Heaven Ross, 10, and Linda Manigault, 34, were found inside the multifamily home at 2153 Belmont Ave. The suspect, who was not identified, was also found inside, unconscious and unresponsive with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
He is being treated at St. Barnabas Hospital.
According to neighbor Heidi Sanchez, the couple moved to the home last year. She said that Manigault had four children. Police say the suspect was not the father to either of them.
Police first reported that the suspect was the father to the 10-year-old girl and that the they had to fatally shot inside the home.
Authorities now say the boyfriend was suicidal and may have suffocated the mother and daughter.
The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
