EAST NEW YORK -

Dozens of people celebrated the 10th annual Juneteenth festival Saturday in Gershwin Park.

The festival commemorates the ending of slavery in the United States.

The event aims to teach the community about the African American journey and features performances, activities and vendors from the community.

Organizers say the event is a way to keep African American culture and history alive.
