Best of the Bronx: Bronx student earns bachelor's degree in 2 years

A Bronx student received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice at Monroe College in just two years.

Ashley Melecio, 20, says she's pursuing a career in correctional psychology. She says she took advantage of the jumpstart program at Bronx Arena High School and earned 18 college credits.

Melecio says she had a part-time job, took six classes a semester and had an internship at the Department of Probation.

Her six siblings and parents cheered her on at the graduation ceremony.

Melecio says she plans on getting a master's degree at Monroe College by 2021, which would give her three degrees before she turns 22 years old.
