The NYPD confirmed Tuesday that the body of Brooklyn YouTube personality Desmond Amofah was found in the East River near the South Street Seaport Monday night.
The 29-year-old, also known as Etika, went missing June 19 when police say he last spoke on the phone with a loved one.
Sources say they believe Amofah may have taken his own life. They say he posted a cryptic video on his YouTube page before he went missing. That video has been taken down, but in it, Etika said he had a mental illness and had thoughts of harming himself.
YouTube Creators’ Twitter page sent out a message saying, "We mourn the loss of Etika, a beloved member of our gaming creator community. All of us at YouTube are sending condolences to his loved ones and fans."
