NYC pools officially open for summer season

It's time to cool off from the warm weather at the now open New York City pools.
All New York City outdoor pools will officially open today at 11 a.m.
The city's 53 free public pools are open every day from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. until September.
City officials advise swimmers to bring a sturdy lock to secure your belongings, but say to avoid bringing food, glass bottles, electronic devices and newspapers. Pool officials say they don’t want them blowing around.
New this year, are the six new "cool pools.” They feature new wall art, lounge chairs, cabana style shade areas and new poolside activities like games, sports, arts and crafts and free fitness classes. There will now be 11 of them open across the city, including two of them in Brooklyn. One will be at Commodore Barry Park and the other Douglas and Degraw Pool in Gowanus which opened last year.
Also happening today is the start of free summer meals. Between today and Aug. 30, free breakfast and lunches are available for children and teens 18 and under. They’re available at hundreds of locations across the city.
