SHEEPSHEAD BAY -

Two NYPD officers were injured early Monday morning while trying to arrest a man in Sheepshead Bay.

Police say it all started after a 911 call stating that someone was breaking into cars near Avenue U and East 15th Street around 1 a.m.

When they got to the scene they say the suspect tried to take off. News 12 is told a female officer chased after him but fell and hit her head. This happened just a few blocks from the 61st Precinct.

Investigators say an officer ran out of the precinct and was able to grab the suspect but hurt his elbow in the process.

Police say the suspect is a 25-year-old man who was taken into custody and facing charges.

News 12 is told both officers were treated for non-life threatening injuries and have since been released from the hospital.
