It's official! Coney Island has won the top spot this week in News 12's Road Trip contest.

Coney Island has entertainment for the whole family.

“You can do a beach day and then you can go grab food or you can go on a ride, or go to the aquarium, so there's just so many options and it appeals to so many different ages and whatever interests you have,” says Alexandra Silversmith, of the Coney Island Alliance.

While New York City has many beaches, some beachgoers say this one is a step above the rest.

"Nathan's on July 4, they have a hot dog eating contest that we really want to come to, and the beach. 100% the beach. I know there's Brighton Beach, that beach and that beach, but Coney Island is just the most authentic beach,” says visitor Taylor Ford.

The Coney Island Alliance says it is considered the birthplace of the amusement park with lots of landmarks. It has grown over the years to offer more to the public.  

“None of this was like this before, like when I was first as a kid, so it just gets better every year,” says Jossie Rivera, of Harlem.

The best part for some people is that it is just a train ride away.

As the neighborhood continues to grow with more food and entertainment on the horizon, visitors keep flocking to the legendary summer hot spot.
