The MTA has chosen the business behind Luna Park to change the face of the Stillwell Avenue subway station.
The MTA announced last summer that it was looking for innovative ideas to redesign the food and retail locations inside the subway station. CAI Foods, a subsidiary of Central Amusements International, got the position.
The redesign plans include taking nine of the 11 units in the station and combining them. The largest of these units will become Rcade, an arcade bar and restaurant. Other units will become Trax, a coffee shop and restaurant.
Alessandro Zamperla, the president of Central Amusements International, says the new units will provide people places to unwind after long days at work.
It is scheduled to open next summer.
