A Bronx community is rallying behind a 103-year-old woman who found out her home health aide service was being cut off with no warning.
Sarah Turner started receiving professional care from Medicaid through Fidelis Care. A home health aide takes care of her seven hours every day of the week.

Turner says the aide told her Monday the service was ending and she won't be able to stay or come back.

Councilman Andy King says he went back and forth with Fidelis Care multiple times demanding answers. He says it was agreed that Turner was going to be serviced but someone rescinded the approval and no one knows why.

King says Fidelis Care is investigating why her case was rescinded but in the meantime, the company has made a commitment to get someone back to help her.

Despite her troubles, Turner says she is not upset.

"I just say 'Have a blessed day,'" she says. "That's just how I live my life."

King also announced that he is proposing legislation next week for New York residents 90 and older who get any kind of service from city agencies.

Under the proposal, they would not have to get recertified for that service to avoid any issues filling out paperwork at that age.

The bill also includes getting those who are 90 and older free MetroCards for transportation.
The Human Resources Administration told News 12 in a statement, "The health and well being of our clients is our top priority. Once we learned of this disruption in service, we contacted Fidelis to ensure that services were restored.”
