A 16-year-old has been arrested after a Brooklyn taxi driver was killed by his own vehicle while trying to catch a thief in the Bronx.

News 12 is told the teenager has been charged with murder and robbery. The teenager's name has not been released.

Authorities say Mohammad Zafrullah, 65, was dropping off a customer on Seward Avenue around 11:45 p.m. when that passenger robbed him – taking his bag and making a run for it.

Police say Zafrullah started to chase the passenger but forgot to put the taxi in park. They say the vehicle knocked him down and rolled over him, crushing his head and spine before hitting a parked car.

People living in the area told News 12 they came outside after the incident and found Zafrullah still conscious.

He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
