Temperatures are expected to reach dangerous highs over the next few days, which means taking extra precautions to keep pets cool.
Pets, like people, are susceptible to skin cancer, sunburn and heatstroke.
Limit exercise for pets, and take pets outside during the early morning or evening hours instead of mid-day. Walk pets on grass if possible - asphalt can burn paws - and always carry water.
Fans do not cool pets off as effectively as they do people. Never leave a pet in a parked car, even if the air conditioning is on.
