Tree falls, crashing into parked car on 12th Avenue in Borough Park

A tree came crashing down on a car in Borough Park Monday evening.
Emergency crews were called to the scene on 12th Avenue between 55th and 56th streets around 7 p.m.
Firefighters taped off the area of the tree that extended into the roadway, blocking one lane of the two-way street.
News 12 is told the Department of Environmental Protection, along with Con Edison, has been notified.
No one was hurt when the tree fell, but the sidewalk, powerlines and car all suffered extensive damage.
A family member tells News 12 the owner of the car has just parked it to run inside to grab his luggage. When he came back out his car was crushed.
It does not appear there were any major outages because of the downed tree.
