Parks Department: Gravesend park has become a hotspot for illegal dumping

Neighbors in Gravesend say illegal dumping at one park remains a problem, with garbage scattered throughout the area.
Boris Batist says trash is strewn all over Calvert Vaux Park, and he wants it cleaned up. News 12 joined him for a walk in the park and found scattered clusters of garbage bags.
The Parks Department admits that Calvert Vaux Park is a hotspot for dumping because of its remote location. But it says it removes illegally-dumped items regularly, and that it gets cleaned daily.
It also says on the weekends, when more people are in the park, it adjusts the cleaning schedule.
Sources at the Parks Department say they have six staff members who maintain the park who will continue to work closely with the NYPD to monitor and enforce rules on littering and dumping.
