'Looney Tunes' basketball court draws ire due to slippery surface

A Brooklyn man says his basketball court has been ruined by a marketing campaign that redesigned the court to promote Warner Brothers and Looney Tunes.
At the beginning of August, the basketball court at Rodney Playground saw a major change with a giant mural of Looney Tunes added. It was part of Warner Brothers' "Get Animated Invasion."
Many local residents were excited, but once it was time to get on the court, Williamsburg's Paul Travisano and some fellow players discovered something was not right. He says not only were the markings on the court drawn incorrectly, but also the court was made narrower by several feet.
Travisano says it's now impossible to have a full-blown basketball game, and it is very difficult to even play because the paint on the court is so slippery.
While News 12 was at the court, signs were posted saying the court would be temporarily closed for resurfacing.
Travisano says the court used to be a popular spot, but he now says many avoid it so they don't hurt themselves.
The Parks Department responded to the situation in a statement, saying, "Immediately, we have temporarily closed the Tune Squad court to apply an additional clear coat with silica sand to ensure a proper surface before reopening to the public."
