Rep. Max Rose (D-Brooklyn) secured a travel ban waiver that will help reunite a man and his wife.
Ahmed Almulaiki's wife recently moved to the United States to flee war in Yemen. She is in the hospital fighting a medical condition and Almulaiki says it has been a struggle to transport her to Brooklyn.
Rose, calling the ban "devastating," is sponsoring the "No Ban Act" in an effort to repeal the Trump administration's travel ban that was signed back in 2017.
"There are people's aunts, and uncles, and parents and grandparents, and cousins -- and as they flee that humanitarian disaster, you better believe that they want to come to a place where they have loved ones and that place is here. And we need to lead the way in terms of making that a possibility," said Rep. Rose.
Rose says there is still work to be done in the fight to end the travel ban. For now, Almulaiki is just happy to be reunited with his wife.
