Crowds gather for 29th annual Coney Island sand-sculpting completion

The 29th annual Coney Island sand sculpting competition was held Saturday.

The 29 annual Coney Island sand sculpting competition was held Saturday.
The event comes two days before National Sandcastle Day on Monday.
Brooklyn Community Services and Alliance for Coney Island held the event at Riegelmann Boardwalk. 
Hundreds of people came to attend and watch the competition. Giveaways and music performances and other activities were also at the event.
Sculptors ranged in age and skill, from professional to amateur artists. The three categories of the competition were family, individual adult and adult group.
