A passenger riding a Long Island Rail Road train alerted conductor Jerry Savino to an unattended bag last Thursday evening.
In the overhead rack of a car on Train 765, Savino spotted a file folder-style suitcase. Inside the bag, he discovered important documents, a wallet, a checkbook and an envelope containing $9,000 in cash.
Savino and train crew members reported the find, then delivered the bag to Jamaica Station. After it was turned over to the MTA police district office, the owner was located and the bag was returned. The bag's owner has not been publicly identified.
