Police: Brownsville grandfather with dementia missing

Posted: Updated:

A Brownsville family is asking for help from their community to get their loved one to return home.

Around 8 a.m. Saturday, the family says they noticed their front door was slightly open and that 78-year-old Ralph Campbell was missing.

Family members say the father and grandfather was last seen around 2 a.m. Saturday wearing a black jacket with a hood, a white T-shirt, dark gray basketball shorts and navy slippers.

When the family realized Campbell was missing, they say they went on their own search to find him. After their efforts, they went to the police station for assistance.

Police brought canines to Campbell's residence to get his scent from his clothes. The canines picked up his scent and lead police to the B14 bus stop on Pitkin Avenue. The stop is minutes away from his home.

The family says the grandfather is kind but may be spooked when found because of his dementia. They say to not rush up to him if he is seen, but to take time.

If anyone has information about Campbell's location, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-8477.
