Hundreds of staff and students participated in the seventh annual Bioblitz at Green-Wood Cemetery Saturday.
Macaulay Honors College students combed through the cemetery to identify the different types of wildlife for a survey.
The event aims to provide a snapshot of the plants and animals in the cemetery’s pond, trees, shrubs and more.
Participating students got firsthand exposure to the collection of scientific data within an ecosystem.
Once the data is collected, it can be used by scientists around the world.
The 36-hour Bioblitz took place at Green-Wood Cemetery on Saturday, and will continue on Sunday at the Gowanus Canal.
